Row on a Boat: Roger Ver and Jimmy Song to Hash Out Bitcoin Matters on Blockchain Boat Cruise

The third annual Blockchain Cruise on the Mediterranean, from September 7 to 11, will see a heated debate over the potential future of Bitcoin.

Roger Ver, the most prominent Bitcoin Cash evangelist, and Jimmy Song, a well-known Bitcoin writer and host of the OffChain videos, will hash out their differences in a debate over the future of Bitcoin. The debate will take place during the third annual Blockchain Cruise on the Mediterranean, from Barcelona to Monte Carlo and Ibiza.

In a recent tweet, Bitcoin.com announced that Song and Ver will once again come together to discuss Bitcoin Cash (BCH), a hard fork from the world’s most well-known cryptocurrency, Bitcoin (BTC). The offspring has inspired hope, fear, and criticism alike with its dramatic price jumps and drops over the past year.

The Blockchain Cruise event is widely publicized by the Twitter account that is one of the biggest tribunes for Bitcoin Cash.

The point of contention for Bitcoin Cash supporters is the slowness and lack of agility in Bitcoin, not even getting close to VISA-like levels of transactions. Bitcoin Cash has set out to solve the problem of scalability, by increasing block size to 32MB, with an adjustable level of difficulty, without regard to the number of miners supporting it.

Ver and Song are old acquaintances. In December 2017, Jimmy Song interviewed Ver in a YouTube livestream about scaling Bitcoin. Ver stated his usual position that Bitcoin Cash with its new developments is the way to go.

But Song believes all changes to evolve and scale an asset need to be done within Bitcoin Core, even if it takes time.

The debate comes at a time when the Bitcoin Cash project once again accelerates changes to its protocol, unleashing new code for a mandatory hard fork on November 15. Tone Vays, another prominent trader and commenter in the crypto community, will also attend the debate.

The annual Blockchain Cruise is arranged by Coinsbank, an organization that has built a crypto ecosystem of a marketplace, wallet, and also deals with events and popularization.

Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash are in a heated competition still. BTC’s market price struggles to hold above the $6,000 level, clinging at around $6,445 as of Thursday. BCH has stabilized at around $520, but remaining below the 0.1 BTC barrier.
