Qravity Creator Aims to Fix Broken Business Model in Movie and Entertainment Industry

Austrian producer and composer David Brandstaetter believes he has developed a solution that will fix the flawed business model of the movie and entertainment industries.

This blockchain-based project will redirect revenue flows from intermediaries and streaming services to filmmakers and other creatives.

The entertainment industry has always run on a lopsided business model in which money trumps talent. Artists have been grossly underpaid for years while major production studios and distributors have grown rich at their expense.

No matter how great your ideas for digital entertainment projects may be, you will face many challenges in your endeavors to bring them to life and ensure their success. Colossal expenses, little to no access to affordable and stable financing, poorly organized creative teams, trouble getting the right talent, and fierce competition are just a few of the obstacles you must overcome as an indie creative or producer.

In recent years, we have seen a dramatic shift in fundraising patterns as many indie filmmakers have resorted to crowdfunding. The comedy-action martial arts movie Kung Fury is a shining example of this trend: with a stated goal of $200,000, the project received support from 17,713 backers who pledged $630,019.

As a producer, even if you have your funding locked down, you still have to assemble your creative dream team. Crowdsourcing tools can help you get the talent you need to realize your idea, but you still need to manage your project efficiently. This includes proper task assignment, tracking, and approval. When your project is complete, you need to manage distribution channels and marketing campaigns to push your content beyond a small group of supporters to a broader mainstream audience.

For the last couple of years, Brandstaetter and his business partner Sascha Dennstedt have been working on a digital media production and distribution platform called Qravity. Their solution will allow producers and creatives to collaborate on the development of original monetizable digital entertainment while eliminating reliance on revenue-hoarding intermediaries.

The Ethereum-based platform tracks the process of digital media creation and distributes the revenues among creative team members. Qravity features a comprehensive set of project management, social networking, and communication tools to streamline creative workflows and improve collaboration among team members. Once there are no outstanding tasks and the project is declared completed, Qravity takes care of distributing and marketing the original content produced on and for the platform, providing access to it both directly and via third-party marketplaces.

“Using Qravity, artists contribute their time and talent in exchange for project stakes.  Upon project completion, content goes directly to market, and creatives receive royalties every time their content is purchased. So, if a scriptwriter has, for example, a 30% stake in a film that he wrote, he receives 30% of the
