Chronoswiss Launches Crypto-Design Watch Collection

Chronoswiss and Tech Bureau Europe, a subsidiary of Japan’s Tech Bureau, recently launched a website dedicated to an exclusive collection of watches called Chronoswiss Blockchain Series.

Tech Bureau Europe is partnering with Swiss watchmaker Chronoswiss to operate a recently-launched online shop that sells unique watches with an exclusive crypto-design. Each timepiece is related to one of five cryptocurrencies – Bitcoin, Ethereum, NEM, Zaif, and COMSA. The luxury watches are linked with a digital certificate stored on blockchain, which ensures a higher degree of security and transparency. The new site displays the story behind each of the five watch versions, which includes 101 pieces per model.

Statement from Chronoswiss CEO Oliver Ebstein

"With this homage to cryptocurrencies, Chronoswiss is combining the roots of traditional watchmaking expertise with the digital revolution of the new global currencies. It is thus more than natural to be curious and open-minded about the future. Cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology are the future, which Chronoswiss is also actively following and supporting. That is why we are proud to use blockchain as a marketing tool and a means of certifying our timepieces."

To avoid the infiltration of counterfeit goods and prevent theft, the details of every timepiece are recorded on the blockchain platform LuxTag, which was developed on top of the NEM blockchain.

The Chronoswiss Blockchain Series includes the following models: Each piece costs about $8,300.

  • Bitcoin: The currency
  • Ethereum: The contract
  • NEM: The harvest
  • Zaif: The exchange
  • COMSA: The token

Statement from Tech Bureau Europe's Blockchain Advisor Mathias Schmid

"With Chronoswiss as our partner, we were able to successfully manifest our vision of five cryptocurrency-inspired luxury watches."

The intention to manufacture these watches was voiced earlier this year, and the collection was presented in August.

Earlier this month, we reported that Hublot, another Swiss-based luxury watchmaker, presented a blockchain-style limited-edition timepiece sold exclusively for Bitcoin, with a price equivalent of $25,000.
