BIBF is establishing Blockchain Academy for individuals interested in earning their ‘Certified Blockchain Professional’ qualification or enrolling for other DLT-related courses.
The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) – an organization that provides finance-related trainings – has announced that it has launched a “Blockchain Academy”, which will offer a Blockchain Professional Qualification Programme, along with a variety of other masterclasses and workshops.
In aposton its official website, the BIBF confirmed that the professional qualification program will be formally launched in January next year. The course will comprise an intensive five-day training program delivered by BIBF and training provider myLearning Key, in order to prepare participants to earn the international qualification of Certified Blockchain Professional C|BP.
The certification, which is awarded by the US-based Institute of IIB Council, covers blockchain technology and its various applications in the real world. Designed to bring professionals up to speed about global standards for the implementation of blockchain tech, the course covers three key areas: development, implementation, and strategy.
In addition to the C|BP course, the academy will also offer various masterclasses and workshops for both IT professionals and business professionals alike, to educate them about the applications of distributed ledger technology in their respective companies.
While announcing the launch, BIBF Director Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh said the establishment of the academy was in line with the BIBF’s aim to make Bahrain a major IT hub and provide new training programs to “develop the skills and knowledge of the Kingdom’s human capital”.
“As we live in the era of digital innovation and technological advancements today, we are pleased to collaborate with myLearning Key and the IIB Council to introduce the first Blockchain Professional Qualification to support the growing demand for skilled Blockchain professionals”, he added.
BIBF’s Head of IT, Operations and Project Management, Mr. Ahmed Naeemi, also commented on how the academy would help “support businesses and organisations with their digital transformation plans”.
Given their rising popularity, there has been a significant increase in the number of blockchain and cryptocurrency courses cropping up. A survey conducted by Coinbase and Qriously in August this year shows that blockchain and crypto are seeing rising academic interest among students globally.
Recently, Huobi Group and the National Trading Union Congress Learning Hub of Singapore teamed up to launch blockchain courses for fintech professionals and crypto enthusiasts in the region. In addition, the French University of Armenia also launched the country’s first blockchain research lab in partnership with Blocktech, with the aim of conducting interdisciplinary research into the economic implications of blockchain tech.
