Steve Wozniak Joins EQUI Global's Blockchain Investment Fund

Wozniak joins EQUI Global, a venture capital fund with a focus on crypto and blockchain.

Famous tech entrepreneur and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniakhas officially become a co-founder of Equi Global, a venture capital tech innovator. “Woz”, as Wozniak is affectionately called by his fans, is partnering with EQUI founders Doug Barrowman and Baroness Michelle Mone OBE.

According to EQUI’s website, the firm is a venture capital fund that combines traditional investing with blockchain technology. The fund utilizes a native EquiToken digital asset to allow trade and transfer over crypto backend. EQUI Global operates on the Ethereum blockchain.

The news comes two months afterWozniak first announced he would be joining EQUI. This is not the first time “Woz” has demonstrated interest in the crypto sphere. In November 2017,Wozniak compared Bitcoin to goldwhile calling the US dollar “phony”. Earlier this year, the Apple co-founder calledBTC the only “pure” cryptocurrency, and reaffirmed his positive stance on crypto as a whole.

“I get ideas pitched to me every single day, in fact, dozens and I always say no,” said Wozniak for Verdict. “Since I co-founded Apple with Steve Jobs, this is about the second time in twenty years that I actually said yes. I want to be a part of this. It has to be something I really believe in and I really believe in EQUI.”

While being aimed at sophisticated investors, the new, powerful investment movement that’s being created allows people to become involved in a ‘non-institutional’ way.

EQUI Global advertises itself as focused on ‘sophisticated investors’. The venture capital firm will allow such investors to become involved in a ‘non-institutional way’, and will focus primarily on technology companies. In addition to their involvement in tech startups, EQUI Global will put 20% of its investments in real estate and art.

Wozniak’s involvement with the venture capital firm adds crucial credibility to EQUI Global. In addition to that, the Apple co-founder will help identify promising tech companies and startups to be included in EQUI Global’s portfolio.

“We’ve already got over 20 businesses that we are looking at and we haven’t even officially launched yet,” explained Wozniak. “It’s going to be very exciting.”
“Ultimately, our mission is to seek, support and fund the blockchain and tech stars of tomorrow.”
